What encoding parameters does the software support for MP3?

The software supports the following encoding parameters for MP3.

  • Sample Frequency: supports 8000 Hz, 11025 Hz, 12000 Hz, 16000 Hz, 22050 Hz, 24000 Hz, 32000 Hz, 44100 Hz and 48000 Hz.
  • Bit Rate: supports 8 kbps, 16 kbps, 24 kbps, 32 kbps, 40 kbps, 48 kbps, 56 kbps, 64 kbps, 80 kbps, 96 kbps, 112 kbps, 128 kbps, 144 kbps, 160 kbps, 192 kbps, 224 kbps, 256 kbps, and 320 kbps.
  • Channels: supports joint stereo, stereo, and mono.

What encoding parameters does the software support for WAV?

The software supports the following encoding parameters for WAV.

  • Sample Frequency: supports 6000 Hz, 8000 Hz, 11025 Hz, 12000 Hz, 16000 Hz, 22050 Hz, 24000 Hz, 32000 Hz, 44100 Hz, 48000 Hz, 88200 Hz and 96000 Hz.
  • Bits: supports 8 bits and 16 bits.
  • Channels: supports mono and stereo.

What encoding parameters does the software support for AAC?

MP4 MP3 Converter supports the following encoding parameters for AAC.

  • Average Bit Rate (ABR): supports 16 kbps, 24 kbps, 32 kbps, 40 kbps, 48 kbps, 56 kbps, 64 kbps, 80 kbps, 96 kbps, 112 kbps, 128 kbps, 144 kbps, 160 kbps, 192 kbps, 224 kbps, 256 kbps, and 320 kbps.
  • Variable Bit Rate (VBR): supports quality value from 10 to 500. The bigger value, the better sound quality, and the larger file size.

And, the software supports the following advanced options for professional users.

  • Use Temporal Noise Shaping (TNS): default value is OFF
  • Allow Mid/Side: default value is ON
  • MPEG Version: default value is MPEG4. The MPEG4 is recommended. As non-standard compliant players like QuickTime 6 only support MPEG4. However, Philips Expanium users should choose MPEG2. As their CD portable does not know MPEG-4 AAC files.
  • Block Type: default value is "Both long and short"

What encoding parameters does the software support for MP4/M4A/M4B?

Similar to AAC file except MPEG Version.


How to change volume?

It's easy by MP4 MP3 Converter. Just set an option before converting.

  1. Output as MP3: Click "Options" -> "MP3 Options" tab - > "Sound" section, check "Amplify / Reduce sound" and set a coefficient. The coefficient value is described below.
    • < 100% - Reduce sound
    • = 100% - No changes
    • > 100% - Amplify sound
    For example:
    • 50%: Reduce sound to half of original audio
    • 200%: Double sound of original audio
  2. Output as WAV: Similar to instructions above, just click "WAV Options" tab instead.
  3. Output as AAC: Similar to instructions above, just click "AAC Options" tab instead.
  4. Output as MP4/M4A/M4B: Similar to instructions above, just click "MP4/M4A/M4B Options" tab instead.

How can I add a customized ID3 tag when converting to MP3?

Click "Options" -> "MP3 Options" tab -> "ID3 tag" section and check "Add ID3 tag", and then click "Edit ID3 tag" button below to edit the custom ID3 tag information.

At "Title" field, if you check "Name as file name (not include extension)", the software will set Title as file name when converting. For example: original file name is "Happy New Year.ogg", and then the title will be set as "Happy New Year" automatically.


Is it possible to output destination files to a specified folder?

Yes, it is. You may click "Options" -> "General Options" tab -> "Output" section, choose "A custom folder" at "Output folder" combo-box and click "Browse" button to choose an output folder.


Is it possible to output destination files to a specified folder and keep directory tree of original files?

Yes, it is. Similar to question above, but you should check "Create folders according to path of original file", thus the software will create folders according to path of source file automatically when converting.

For example: Original file is "C:\Music\pop\sample.mp4" and output folder is "D:\Output." If the option is checked, the output folder will be "D:\Output\C\Music\pop."


How to split left and right channels into two files?

First, split the left channel.

  1. Set output channel to mono at MP3 or WAV Options
  2. Check "L channel" at Options -> General tab -> "If output channel is set to mono and the original file is stereo, output sound equals to"
  3. Convert to MP3 or WAV

Then, split the right channel, similar to instructions above, just check "R channel" at step 2.
